Aboitiz brings relief to families affected by ‘Urduja’ and ‘Vinta’

AE Team | December 23, 2017

Aboitiz Foundation and Aboitiz Group business units responded to families in the wake of Tropical Storms ‘Urduja’ and ‘Vinta’ in Leyte, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao City.

Pilmico provided emergency relief in Leyte through its regional sales team and turned over 300 boxes of The Care Package high-energy biscuits to over a thousand families in Biliran towns Maanda, Sangalang, Busali, and Naval.

Each packet contains 100-gram biscuits loaded with 450 kilocalories (equivalent to one full meal) and is an efficient disaster relief solution to address hunger and provide adequate nutrition through a sustainable food supply.

In Davao City, AboitizPower, Davao Light, Therma South, Apo Agua, and Hedcor extended help to families affected by flash floods. Through consolidated efforts, the BUs distributed 6,152 liters of water for the displaced residents on Christmas Eve.

In Cagayan de Oro, Pilmico distributed boxes of The Care Package along with other food packs to 144 affected families in Barangay Bulao, Iponan in Cagayan de Oro.

Our goal is to be one of the first responders when calamities strike. Beyond these relief efforts, the plan is to carefully develop and implement rehabilitation projects for the affected families. This is part of our commitment to advance business and communities by co-creating safe, empowered, and sustainable communities.
