UnionBank reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability with the LEED® Gold certification of its Angeles Branch in Pampanga.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system is an internationally recognized standard for green buildings that promote a healthy, durable, affordable, and environmental practice in building and construction.

The Branch achieved the LEED Gold certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. It garnered a total LEED credit score of 68.

Asked about what she think are the benefits of managing a LEED certified branch to her co-employees, clients, and to their operations in general, Ms. Shirley P. Canlas, Branch Manager replied, “Since LEED contributes to wellness, our clients and ourselves will benefit from the clean air and clean, harmless surroundings. This in turn increases our productivity. Our efficiency will progress as our work area is comfortable and pleasant.”

“UnionBank’s Angeles Branch LEED certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership. LEED was created to make the world a better place by providing everyone with healthy, green, and high-performing buildings. Angeles Branch serves as a prime example of how the work of innovative building projects can use local solutions to make a global impact on the environment.”

-Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO, USGBC

The Bank now has a total of three (3) LEED-certified branches, with the certifications of UnionBank Tacloban Branch (Gold level) and Olongapo Branch (Platinum level) confirmed in 2016.
