Volunteers join AboitizLand Coastal Clean-up in Batangas

Joining the global effort to improve the state of our oceans, some 153 volunteers came together on November 25 for AboitizLand’s coastal clean-up at Barangay Calubcub 2, San Juan, Batangas.

More than 600 kilograms of plastic, on top of other wastes, were collected by volunteers from AboitizLand, Aboitiz Power MakBan, Lima Land, Lima Water, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and Barangay Calubcub 2 from the 3-kilometer coastline.

Calubcub Bay has been declared by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) as a Marine Protected Area and is believed to be inhabited by olive ridley turtles. The Seafront coastline, which is part of the Calubcub Bay coastline, is a known nesting ground for the said pawikan, and AboitizLand is committed to keeping its shores clean and safe for the mother pawikan to lay eggs.

For AboitizLand, building communities means nurturing our neighbor communities. The coastal clean-up is a #BetterWorld initiative to help free our coasts from seen and unseen pollution.
