WATCH: Aboitiz Kaubans join fellow employee volunteers in nationwide greening program
By Dave Devilles | July 15, 2019
Aboitiz Construction team members joined the 5,000-strong volunteers from the various business units last July 13 in what is deemed as one of the biggest Groupwide simultaneous tree planting events in the Aboitiz group.
The Cebu-based construction arm of Aboitiz & Company is one of the business units that actively supports the goal of the A-Park program, a nationwide greening effort of Aboitiz Group, which aims to plant 9 million trees by 2020. As of end of 2018, Aboitiz Group had planted a total of 6.6 million trees (or 73 percent of the target).
Watch the highlights of the Groupwide Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity.
The planting of nine million trees by the end of 2020 would mean the conversion of an estimated 189,000 tons of total carbon dioxide into oxygen, or the equivalent of about 9,000 hectares of lush reforested areas, or more than 37 times the size of Bonifacio Global City.
On June 5, 2019, Aboitiz Group renewed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR to continue the partnership supporting the latter’s national reforestation program.
It is heartening to know that working towards your corporate objective would also mean addressing poverty alleviation by engaging the services of the local people in forest activities like seedling production, plantation establishment and maintenance and protection, among others.
